Month in Review - December 2013

Here's a message from Polo Field:
Hello Penguins!

In our last Reviewed by You post, we asked, "what is your all-time favorite food?"

I really liked Jill56891's answer:

"My all-time favorite food is chicken. There is so many ways you can cook chicken. You can fry it, you can bake it, and many more ways! You can have all kinds of different seasonings on it, so it never gets old.Hands down, chicken is my favorite food. Waddle On!"

So true Jill56891. I don't know about all of you, but this blog post made me hungry!
Now it's time to look back on all the awesome stuff that's happened in December! Here are some highlights:

 * Clothing Catalog
 * Furniture Catalog
 * #WaddleOn - Holiday Special
 * The Spoiler Alert - Holiday Special
 * Holiday Party
 * Coins For Change

What were your favorite parts of December? What would you like to see added to Club Penguin next year? Let us know in the comments below!

We'll pick one comment to feature in next week's Reviewed by You. If your review is featured next week, we'll add 10,000 coins to your account. Just like that. Boom.

PS: Don't forget to use your penguin name so we can add the coins!
This month has been a HUGE month for Club Penguin, huh? My favorite part of December was definitely Coins For Change. It's not a very large update, but it means so much to the community as well as people around the world who need urgent care. I'd really like to see the "Jump to Friend" feature. It sounds so convenient, and it'd be a huge leap for Club Penguin.

EPF Message from Jet Pack Guy! (December 26, 2013)

Here's a message from Jet Pack Guy:

Crab-like footprints have been reported in the Wilds. We suspect they belong to Klutzy. It's difficult to trace them back to a single location. We may need to bring in an expert.

I'm wondering how this will unfold...

Thanks Saraapril

Club Penguin Times issue #427 - Rockhopper Talks Trains!

Check out this week's issue of the Club Penguin Times!

ROCKHOPPER TALKS TRAINS!
The Captain takes a rare moment between train trips.

By Aunt Arctic - Interviewing Captain Rockhopper is always entertaining - even when it involves a lot of fact-checking. I caught up to him at the train station for this exclusive interview.

AA: "So Captain, how does being a train engineer compare to being a ship captain?"

RH: "I say it be just as excitin'. Why, it be only a few nights ago (Tuesday, perhaps) when I can across a terrible beast. It was a stormy night on the rails, and me hold was full o' coins. I be nearin' the station when out of the snow rsoe a Woolly Pink Flamingo! The monster hopped on me train and be peckin' at me hat before I could say, 'Shiver me tinsel!'"

RH: "I swung the train to starboard and headed straight into the storm! The winds were whippin' up snow and I be blinded! Me only hope was to press on at full speed! When I came out the other side o' the storm, the pesky bird be gone. I be happy as a clam that me haul o' coins made it back to the donation station that night."
AA: "Thank you, Captain Rockhopper. Everyone look for rogue Woolly Pink Flamingos! God luck on your next voyage."

EPF Message from Gary! (December 19, 2013)

We have a new EPF message, and it's from Gary!

Agents, we'll need everyone's help to recover the coins Herbert stole. And perhaps with a few modifications I can convert this train for EPF use... back to the lab!

Sounds interesting! Can't wait to hear more.

Club Penguin Times issue #426 - Rookie Runs Off The Trails!

Check out this week's issue of the Club Penguin Times!

ROOKIE RUNS OFF THE TRAILS!
Gary's designs didn't account for driving at Rookie-speed.

By Rockhopper -- Shiver me timbers! Rookie sent sacks of gold soarin' with his drivin'. With every corner he sped around, more o' those glistenin' coins came spilling out! Time to board your trains, me hearties!

Batten the hatches! Hoist the... um... whate'er it is needs hoistin' on a train. Thar be coins all over the island that need collectin' for Coins Fer Change! Gather ye mateys and head to the Train Station at the Snow Forts. Ye can start your journey there. Once ye board, collect as much as ye can. Then, haul it to the donation stations at the end of the lines.

It be the train engine that controls where the train goes so step lively if ye be the engineer at the front. Take a lesson from Rookie and don't let that train get away from ye. Have no fear, we be on course to recover the loot.

With all these train crews working hard, we be celebratin' with a mug o' cream soda soon!

NEWSFLASH
Happy Holidays! Train tunnels are now available for members' igloos in the Furniture Catalog!

GARY FINDS SOLUTION FOR FAR OFF COINS
A curious application of snowball technology.

By Gary -- Salutations! It seems my train had more kinetic kick that in needed! I should have instructed Rookie to take it easier on the throttle, I suppose. Now we have a new problem, and I have created a solution. The Collector Cannon 3000 should be perfect for collecting coins while you're on board a train. As you speed along, simply aim and fire to collect the scattered coins.

This device will give you unparalleled snowball accuracy. I hope that it assists in the clean up operations. Collecting for Coins For Change is an important and noble cause. Now, I must go back to my research. Good luck with your efforts!

Arts & Crafts: Memory Card Game!

Here's a little Club Penguin-themed craft you can do in your free time:
You Will Need
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
Instructions
  1. Download and print out the template.
  2. Color in the images. Make sure you color the matching cards the same.
  3. Cut out the cards and glue them onto construction paper.
  4. Cut them out.
How to Play
  1. Look away, and then ask a friend to lay the cards out with pictures facing down, making 4 rows of 6 cards.
  2. Once the cards are in place, pick any card and turn it over. Now try taking your best guess at where its match is hidden!
  3. If the next card you turn over is not a match, put both cards face down and try again.
  4. When you find a matching pair, leave both cards face up so you know you've already found that pair.
  5. Keep going until you've found all the pairs, then let your friend try. When you get good, time yourself, then try beating your record!
You can download the template at the Fun Stuff page, linked above.

Daffo's App Tips: Smoothie Smash!

Here's a message from Daffodaily5:
Hiya!
How fab is the new Club Penguin app update? Smoothie Smash is one of my fave games so it’s brill I can now play it on iPad! I’ve been playing all day and thought I’d share my tips with you:
  • There aren’t any obstacles like anvils on the iPad game – it’s all about the score!
  • Sparkling fruit are the ones that are needed for the current smoothie. Each time you smash a sparkling fruit you get a score multiplier - X10 is the maximum. See how long you can keep it there!
  • Sometimes it’s better not to smash – see if you can work out when it’s better for you to bounce slowly!
  • Always try and get the Bonus Time and Golden Apple power-ups, they’ll really boost your score!
  • Collect 5 Golden Apples and your screen will be flooded with fruit, boosting your score!
Comment below with your scores! I’m sure you can beat mine as I’m not that great at it, but it’s ok because I still play looooads!
I’ll do another post soon with some useful app tips.
The Club Penguin app for iPad is really fun! If you have an iPad, be sure to try it out.
